A doll portrait! Michelle surprised me at a recent gig by giving me a doll that she made. YAY!

Art by Annelie McKenzie.

This painting was done by my mother while she was at McGill. I love it. It’s the only art I’ve seen of hers. I like seeing all the brushstrokes she did. This painting was always kept hidden away in the basement. My parents didn’t seem to like it very much. I think she told me once that she didn’t think it was very good. It’s not signed. I have it up in my kitchen now.
“I loved the noise and confusion,” said Layton, “and that is what gave me my first idea of poetry. To be vital, poetry has to exhibit the same kind of chaos and the same wonderful colourful confusion.” To this chaos, confusion, and emotion, add confrontation, sarcasm, and iconoclasm, and you have the elements which form Layton’s poetry.
I love his poetry, and I love this description of it.
I just reverted to the old version. What a waste of time. At least I saved a back-up!
Maybe I’ll try again another time.
I’m updating some things and of course it’s all snarly. ![]()
I uploaded some recent artworks:
It was my first time experimenting with Chinese ink and a sumi brush. Not a huge leap from india ink, but a nice variation. I don’t think I ground up the “ink stick” long enough (translation = not enough dark values). I liked it. I think I’ll do more with the medium. I’ve been reading about it too… (I should figure out how to link to little pics of amazon stuff here!)
Oh, and I had fun making myself a little stamp to sign my ink drawings with.
Here’s a super short animation I made for a coworker’s presentation:
